Project Overview
In Sindh, inadequate post-harvest handling and infrastructure lead to significant fruit wastage, with only a small percentage undergoing value-added processing and export. To address this, the region requires quality pulping facilities to add value to its abundant fruit production, reducing losses and creating employment opportunities. This project aims to establish such facilities in central/upper Sindh, processing locally grown fruits into high-demand products for both domestic and international markets.
SEDF’s Assistance
SEDF has extended financial support in the form of a mark-up subsidy for a cutting-edge multi-fruit processing facility located in Pakistan’s inaugural agri-processing zone (KSEZ), benefiting Al Rahim Agri Processing (Pvt.) Limited. This initiative has generated 80 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region. The advanced nature of the facility has inspired other industrialists and growers to emulate the approach taken by Al Rahim Agri Processing (Pvt.) Limited.
